Association of Canadian Archivists’ Hashtag Party: ArchivesBeaches

We’re back for another installment of the Association of Canadian Archivists’ Hashtag party. Today’s theme is #ArchivesBeaches. Many people in southern Saskatchewan head to the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley to cool off during the lazy days of summer and have been doing so for many decades. This photo was taken during a Fort Qu’Appelle Summer School activity at Echo Lake in the Summer of ’69.

UR International English Coach

Any student for some extra help with English should be aware that the UR International English Coach has a change of schedule for July and August. They will be in the Archer Library (in the room pictured here) the following times for the next two months starting next Saturday (July 8th):

Thursdays: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Saturdays: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Extended Hours for July 2023

The Archer Library will be trying out something new this July: From Monday to Thursday the library will remain open until 11:00 pm (three hours later than our usual 8:00 pm summer closing time.) It will be similar to final exam hours in that there will be limited services during the extra hours (mainly, the Help Desk will be closed, and only the main floor will be accessible.) There will be a student assistant present to monitor the main floor.

Please note that our hours of operation for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in July will remain the same as usual (i.e – regular summer semester hours.)

The July extended hours begin Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.

The growing legacy of the U of R Herbarium

Former biology professor George Ledingham spent a lifetime collecting plant samples housed in the on-campus herbarium that now bears his name. The herbarium is getting a new lease of life thanks to a multi-disciplined effort that has rocketed the facility into the digital age. The task of preserving Ledingham’s work is now an on-going collaborative project undertaken by The Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, and the University Archives.
