Alumnus Jim Hopson, Recipient of the 2015 University of Regina Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award

Alumnus Jim Hopson BEd’75 is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Hopson spent 30 years in the education system as a teacher, principal, and director before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club in 2005 as President and Chief Executive Officer. In the decade of Jim’s leadership, the Roughriders have become one of Canada’s most successful professional sports franchises. Mr. Hopson steered the Riders to Grey Cup Championships in 2007 and again in 2013 when Regina hosted the Grey Cup and, through these events, added $100 million to the local and provincial economies. His leadership has focused on enhancing community involvement, and building long term stability and brand recognition of the Saskatchewan Roughriders football club.
