The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 4th Annual Shen Kuo Research Exchange Program

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 4th Annual Shen Kuo Research Exchange Program that showcases research being conducted at the University of the Regina (U of R) by graduate students, as well as by graduate students from Chinese universities. Informational posters regarding the program will be displayed at several bulletin boards on campus in the coming week. This program is designed to provide U of R graduate students from all program areas with the opportunity to present their research to audiences in Regina and in China. The cost of international travel and accommodation in China will be covered by the U of R. Each selected graduate student will be required to contribute $500.

This program is designed to achieve three important goals:

– The first is to provide an opportunity for a group of selected U of R graduate students to present their research at two Chinese universities: North China Electric Power University (Beijing) and Hunan University (Changsha)

– The second is for the graduate students from the U of R to learn from the research presentations made by students from the participating Chinese universities, and exchange ideas regarding their research

– The third is to provide U of R students with an opportunity to participate in a number of Chinese cultural activities

The U of R recognizes the importance of the work of graduate students to the scholarly mission of the institution. Through their research, with the guidance of their supervisors and mentors, these emergent research scholars develop the necessary skill set to contribute to society in many fundamental and applied ways. The U of R is committed to assisting graduate students to communicate their findings broadly to ensure that this new knowledge is made available to the widest possible audience.

Applications are due by January 12, 2015, and travel dates will be May 10-22, 2015.
