Public Forum on the Subject of Academic Freedom – March 27, 2014

Members of the University of Regina community,

I invite you to participate in a public forum on the subject of academic freedom. The forum will take place:

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 27, 2014
Classroom Building 112

The event will feature:

– a keynote address by Dr. Michael Atkinson, Executive Director of the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy;
– a keynote address by Dr. James Turk, Executive Director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers; and
– a panel discussion involving Dr. Michael Trussler (department of English), Dr. Judy White (Faculty of Social Work) and Dr. Marc Spooner (Faculty of Education).

The forum, which will be moderated by Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos of the department of Psychology, will provide the opportunity for faculty, staff, students and members of the public to engage the participants in discussion on this topic that is so important to all universities.

Everyone is welcome, and a reception will follow. I hope to see you there.
