Strategic Training Fellow Travel Awards:
- STFs are eligible for annual funding up
to $1000;
- Requests for funding are made annually
and are restricted to one application per STF per year;
- Funding is available to all current STFs
in the CPHR Training Program and to alumni STFs up to six months
post-completion of the CPHR Training Program;
- Eligible expenses include conference
travel and registration costs not covered by a STF's home academic unit;
- STFs must be presenting a paper or
poster at a national or international conference or scientific workshop.
Funding will not be provided to STFs for travel expenses to only attend a
conference;
- The application must be supported by the
STF's supervisor/CPHR Mentor; and
- The application is to be submitted prior
to the date of the conference. Retroactive applications will not be
considered.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be
accepted throughout the year.
Currently, we are not offering any Internship, Graduate, Post-Doctoral, or Work-Sabbatical
Awards.
Internship Awards:
- Applicant must be
a STF within the CPHR Training Program;
- Proposal must not
be in process or completed; and
- Applicant must be
working with a community-based organization that can receive a direct benefit from
the research.
Graduate Awards (Masters and Doctoral
Candidates):

Applicants
can be currently applying to graduate studies,
currently enrolled within their first year of graduate studies as of the
application deadline, or newly accepted in a full-time Masters or Doctoral
program through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, University
of Regina or the College of Graduate Studies and Research, University of
Saskatchewan;

Applicants
must have a
Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA) ≥ 80% in the last two years of study or an
equivalent cumulative grade from the applicant’s home institution;

Applicants must agree, in writing, to participate in CPHR course work, seminars and
retreats;

Applicants must have developed a research proposal based on
population health research programs in existence or being developed as
defined by SPHERU. Information about SPHERU’s research programs can be found
at
www.spheru.ca. Applicants
uncertain about the eligibility of their proposed
research should
consult with the CPHR
Coordinator or CPHR Mentors prior to submitting an
application; and

Applicants must have the support of a CPHR Mentor who has agreed
to act as a supervisor or co-supervisor.
Post-Doctoral
Awards:
- Applicants must hold a PhD
or will hold such a degree prior to the deadline for taking up
a CPHR Post-Doctoral Award;
- Applicants must have no more than three
years of post-doctoral experience as of the application deadline (i.e., all
time spent in a research capacity, including as a post-doctoral fellow, a
research associate, a junior faculty member, or equivalent);
- Applicants must have developed a 3-year
research proposal based on population health as defined by SPHERU. Applicants
uncertain about the eligibility of their proposed research
should consult with the CPHR
Coordinator or
CPHR
Mentors prior to submitting an application;
- Applicants may not simultaneously
hold a university faculty appointment or equivalent, or any major award
for salary purposes;
- Applicants must have Canadian
immigration approval to live and work in Canada for the term of the
fellowship, which must be in place before the award commences;
- Applicants must undertake the
fellowship on a full-time basis in Saskatchewan;
- Applicants must undertake the
fellowship in a department and with a supervisor different from his/her
PhD work;
- Applicants must agree, in writing, to
participate in CPHR course work, seminars and retreats; and
- Applicants must have the
support of a CPHR Mentor who has agreed to act as a supervisor or co-supervisor.
Work-Sabbatical Awards:
- Applicants must have a minimum
of 5 years experience working in a government or community-based organization;
- Applicants must occupy a position in
program or policy development and/or implementation;
- Applicants must have experience in
working in an interdisciplinary context; and
- Applicants must agree, in writing, to
participate in CPHR course work, seminars and retreats.
