Internship Candidates:

  • Applicant must be a STF within the CPHR Training Program;
  • Proposal must not be in process or completed; and
  • Applicant must be working with a CBO who can receive a direct benefit from your research.

    APPLICATION DEADLINE:  September 30, 2006

We are not currently offering any Graduate, Post-Doctoral or Work-Sabbatical scholarships/awards.

Masters and Doctoral Candidates:

  • Currently applying to graduate studies, currently enrolled within their first year of graduate studies as of the application deadline, or newly accepted in a full-time Masters or Doctoral program through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Regina or the College of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Saskatchewan;
  • Have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) ≥ 80% in the last two years of study or an equivalent cumulative grade from the applicant’s home institution;   
  • Must agree, in writing, to participate in CPHR course work, seminars and retreats;
  • Developed a research proposal based on population health research programs in existence or being developed as defined by SPHERU.  Information about SPHERU’s research areas can be found at www.spheru.ca.  Graduate student STFs not certain about the eligibility of their proposed research should consult with the CPHR Coordinator or CPHR Faculty Mentors prior to submitting an application; and
  • Receiving support from a CPHR Faculty Mentor who has agreed to act as a supervisor or co-supervisor.

Post-Doctoral Candidates:

  • Must hold a PhD degree in hand or will hold such a degree prior to the deadline for taking up a CPHR awards/;
  • Have no more than three years of postdoctoral experience as of the application date; (i.e., all time spent in a research capacity, including as a postdoctoral fellow, a research associate, a junior faculty member, or equivalent;
  • Developed a 3-year research proposal based on population health as defined by SPHERU.  Applicants not certain about their proposed research should consult with the CPHR Program Coordinators or willing CPHR Faculty Mentors prior to submitting an application;
  • May not simultaneously hold a university faculty appointment or equivalent, or any major award for salary purposes;
  • Must have Canadian immigration approval to live and work in Canada for the term of the fellowship, which must be in place before the award commences;
  • Must undertake the fellowship on a full-time basis in Saskatchewan;
  • Must undertake the fellowship in a department and with a supervisor different from his/her PhD work;
  • Must agree in writing, to participate in CPHR course work, seminars, and retreats; and
  • Receiving support from a CPHR Faculty Mentor who has agreed to act as a supervisor or co-supervisor.

Work-Sabbatical Candidates:

  • Have minimum 5 years of experience working in a community or government-based organization;
  • Occupy a position in program or policy development and/or implementation;
  • Have experience in working in an interdisciplinary context; and
  • Must agree in writing to participate in CPHR course work, seminars, and retreats.
