We are very glad that many of our engineering graduate students attended our Customizing Resumes Workshop. The individual resume reviews event is still on. You can visit the career center on Monday, March 20, 1:30-4:30. Kevin Bolen, Director of Student Success, will give advices on improving your resume and cover letter. Appointments are preferred.

A new meeting with the Dean event will be held on Monday, 8 March. At ED 461, 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
Dean of Engineering Dr. Hussein and Associate Dean for graduate studies Dr. Henni will come to the event. This will be a perfect opportunity to talk about your ideas on graduate studies and lives in U of R Engineering.

The Ministry of Central Services conducts assessments of long-term building maintenance requirements of its facilities to assist in planning for their long term renewal. The types of buildings involved include health-care facilities, technical schools, correctional centres, office buildings, court houses, laboratories, museums and art galleries, and include historic properties across the province.
There is an opportunity for a dynamic individual to join Property Management Services team as an Assessment Engineer. As part of the facilities assessment team, the successful candidate will have the confidence and possess expertise to research, assess, develop, and implement building component inspections and assessments throughout the Province on behalf of the Ministry. This position is tasked with the responsibility to co-ordinate, implement and assess provincial facilities to provide data that reports on the Ministry’s facility condition.
To be successful in this position our candidate of choice will be either a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a concentration in building systems and bring an understanding of facility development, engineering and construction techniques, including but not limited to: component selection, cost estimating, life cycle management and facility management, building assessment and building codes. In addition, this position educates and persuades stakeholders on approaches to building condition renewal management and, as such, requires well-developed skills in leadership, problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal influence and corporate effectiveness. Complementing this, you will have experience in the design, construction and/or operation of building systems.
To qualify for this position, you will be a graduate of a recognized post-secondary engineering program and engineers would be eligible for registration with APEGS, (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan). Supplemental certification in either, Facilities or Project Management would be an asset.

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) offers two member grants of $7,500 annually to support APEGS members returning to further their education in graduate studies at either the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan.
Candidates must be a Saskatchewan resident who is a member of the Association, either professional or in-training, and be a member in good standing with the Association at the time of the application. Candidates must be registered at, and attending, either the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan in post-graduate studies in one of the following areas: Engineering, Geoscience or MBA.
The deadline to receive applications for the grant is December 31.
