After the Expo\u2019s success, it was displayed at 1969 at <em>Man and His World<\/em>, a semi-permanent exhibition incorporating Expo 67\u2019s national pavilions. It was later donated to the University of Regina at the request of the House of Seagram, the original sponsors of the work.<\/p>\n<p>The tumbling shapes that comprise <em>Callooh-Callay<\/em> echo the language of dance that is central to Sullivan\u2019s work. A founding member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca\/en\/article\/les-automatistes\/\">Les Automatistes<\/a>, the Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois artist movement, Sullivan is not only a singular figure in Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s cultural history, but a celebrated pioneer of contemporary art in Canada. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world since the 1960\u2019s. A recipient of the Order of Canada, she has been awarded with many honours and prizes for her outstanding contributions to Canadian art.<\/p>\n<p>The sculpture was a centerpiece of the campus landscape for decades as the University developed around it. After suffering accidental damage, the University of Regina subsequently re-commissioned reconstruction, and Sullivan was present when the new sculpture was unveiled in 2010 in the courtyard of the Riddell Centre.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><em>Callooh-Callay<\/em>, (1967\/ 2010)<\/strong><br \/><strong>Acier soud\u00e9 et peint<\/strong><br \/><strong>Collection d\u2019objets d\u2019art du pr\u00e9sident, Universit\u00e9 de Regina; pc.1968.1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Callooh-Callay <\/em>a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e par Fran\u00e7oise Sullivan, sculptrice, peintre, chor\u00e9graphe et danseuse, originaire du Qu\u00e9bec, pour Expo\u2019\u00a067 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Cette exposition marquait le centenaire du Canada. L\u2019exposition ayant connu un grand succ\u00e8s, la sculpture est expos\u00e9e en 1969 \u00e0 Terres des hommes, une exposition semi-permanente incorporant les pavillons nationaux d\u2019Expo\u2019\u00a067. Membre fondatrice du mouvement artistique qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois Les Automatistes, Sullivan est non seulement une personnalit\u00e9 unique de l\u2019histoire culturelle du Qu\u00e9bec, mais fait aussi figure de pr\u00e9curseur de l\u2019art contemporain au Canada. Ses \u0153uvres sont expos\u00e9es dans des galeries et des mus\u00e9es du monde entier depuis les ann\u00e9es\u00a01960. D\u00e9cor\u00e9e de l\u2019Ordre du Canada, elle est aussi titulaire de nombreux prix et distinctions pour son extraordinaire contribution \u00e0 l\u2019art canadien.<\/p>\n<p>La sculpture a \u00e9t\u00e9 pendant des d\u00e9cennies une pi\u00e8ce ma\u00eetresse du paysage universitaire pendant que l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Regina se d\u00e9veloppait autour d\u2019elle. Apr\u00e8s qu\u2019elle eut \u00e9t\u00e9 endommag\u00e9e accidentellement, l\u2019Universit\u00e9 commande ult\u00e9rieurement sa reconstruction.
