Nature teaches me everything I need to know about the world, and how to live: my human identity, how to be of this earth and not just on this earth, my guiding principles of social and environmental justice, appreciating and learning from the beauty of the essential, and the processes of life, decay and death.<\/p>Anita Rocamora, 2018<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In 1973, Anita Rocamora moved to Regina and began studying in the Ceramics program at the University of Regina under Jack Sures<\/a>, later working with Marilyn Levine.<\/a> She creates delicate, detailed sculptural vessels which often feature painted scenes of nature. The organic shapes evoke the tactility of clay, a medium which is both tough and fragile, transforming through cycles of building and firing in the kiln.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rocamora has contributed to ceramics production in Saskatchewan beyond her own practice, founding North Star Pottery in 1976 with fellow artists Mel Bolen, Charley Farrero and Robert Oeuvrard, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
