Call for proposals for Investigating our Practices 2015

Friday, January 30th, 2015

Hi Everyone,

Valerie Triggs and I are excited to announce the Investigating our Practices conference coming up in April.

We are linking up with UBC as they are now in their 16th year of hosting this brilliant forum.

The nature of this conference is to investigate our practices and to exchange innovative ways of looking at pedagogy with others. This conference serves as a rich and fertile environment for undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and K-12 teachers in the field within a supportive atmosphere.

We are encouraging you to consider writing a proposal (250 words – Deadline February 26th) as well as encourage your students or any teachers you know in the field.

We are hoping you can help us spread the word and encourage your students to make a proposal.

Included in this email are a few options to inform your students about this event.

– A set of slides that outline the conference and the 3 different forms of presenting
– A one-page poster that has all the information on the other side, which could be, uploaded on your UR courses.

We have also dropped a hard copy poster with information on the backside in your box.

Thanks for helping us spread the word!!!!

We look forward to your proposal!

Sincerely

Kathryn Ricketts & Valerie Triggs

University of Regina Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Conference

Deadline for Submissions:
Sunday, February 1st, 2015

Conference Date:
Saturday, March 21st, 2015
ED106, University of Regina

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland in Australia. Students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. 3MT is not an exercise in trivialising or “dumbing-down” research, but challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience. At the U of R, 3MT® is part of an effort to provide students with an opportunity to develop their oral communication and presentation skills. Active (thesis-based) Masters or PhD candidates are eligible to participate in all levels of the regional 3MT® competition.
