Dr. Zhou (Joe) Zhang’s article on corporate responsibility accepted in top-ranked journal

Dr. Zhou (Joe) Zhang recently had an article accepted in the top-ranked journal British Journal of Management:

Walker, K., Ni, N. and Zhang, Z. (forthcoming). The mirror effect: corporate social responsibility, corporate social irresponsibility, and firm performance in co-ordinated market economies and liberal market economies. British Journal of Management.

Summary: In this article, we examine corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate social irresponsibility (CSiR), and their relationships with firm performance in two types of capitalist systems: coordinated market economies (CMEs) and liberal market economies (LMEs). By using data from sixteen countries, we find that corporations mirror their institutional environments, and that CMEs consistently harbour greater CSR, lower CSiR, and financially reward the types of corporate behaviours society wants.
